Croton Memories

My phone number used to be 4 digits.

I went ice skating on the Duck Pond and Kaplan’s Pond.

I hiked in the ruins.

I got a “mix” from Croton Deli and drove the loop endlessly.

I bought toy mice in outfits and menagerie animals at Wondrous Things.

I walked to Elliott’s at lunch and bought Bingo’s penny candy and Jolly Rancher sticks.

I would go to Croton Creamy after softball and joked that the bug zapper made free “sprinkles.”

At the AFS Fair, I bought tickets for the M*A*S*H tent and took a ride in a stretcher.

I walked from PVC to Chicken Galore and ordered Jockos.

I was in a bowling league at Starlight Lanes on Saturday mornings.

I remember my parents dancing to the jukebox at Honey’s.

I owned 22 Chu-Bops – the 3x3 bubblegum candy records - from Book and Record.

I went to keggers in the woods at Spencer (and many other spots!).

I ate gravy fries at 4 a.m. at the Croton Colonial Diner (usually after said kegger).

I still need the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich from Mini Deli.

I loved the quarter pushing game at the Fireman’s Bazaar, even though I never won.

The Rocky Balboa was my favorite sandwich at Volker’s.

I sledded at the Dam (even though we weren’t supposed to).

I bet you did, too, and aren't we the luckiest for it?
